Non-negotiable decision
Half-day Hell’s Gates vs full coastal day
Almost every first Noosa National Park plan fails or succeeds here — not at the lookout. Choose the path that matches heat, parking and group energy. Do not invent a hybrid that stacks Hell’s Gates, Alexandria Bay, Emu Mountain and three cafés onto one late start.
Most first-timers
Half-day headland
- · Coastal Walk toward Hell’s Gates
- · Optional Palm Grove shade loop
- · Noosa Heads base

Coastal Walk
moderateThe park’s signature experience: sealed path near Park Road day-use, then formed coastal track past Boiling Pot, Tea Tree Bay, Granite Bay and out toward Hell’s Gates — with longer links toward Alexandria Bay and Sunshine Beach. Treat unfenced cliffs and heat as real.
- Grade
- QPWS: Class 1 to Boiling Pot; Class 3 to Hell’s Gates; Class 4 full Coastal Walk (VERIFY live)
- Time
- Hell’s Gates return = half-day; full 10.8 km return allow ~4 hrs (QPWS)
- Distance
- QPWS summary (VERIFY live): Boiling Pot 300 m; Dolphin Point 1.2 km; Hell’s Gates 2.7 km one way; Alexandria Bay N 3.3 km / S 4.4 km; Sunshine Beach 5.4 km one way; full Coastal Walk 10.8 km return

- Distance
- 1.1 km return (QPWS — VERIFY live)

- Time
- Allow 45–60 minutes (QPWS)
- Distance
- 1.1 km return (QPWS — VERIFY live)

- Peak parking fills early at Park Road — walk from Hastings Street if full.

- Camping is not permitted inside Noosa National Park.
